Prologue
Her Silent Wings

The trees surrounding Ravenswood Academy seemed to lean in, as if sharing a dark secret. The wind whispered through their leaves, carrying the faint scent of decay and forgotten memories.

The once-grand mansion, now a school, stood like a sentinel, its stone façade weathered to a moss-covered grey. The windows, like empty eyes, stared back at the world, hiding the secrets within.

A lone figure moved silently through the shadowed corridors — Emily Chen, sixteen, her footsteps muffled by years of accumulated dust and hushed confessions.

She clutched her notebook tightly, its pages filled with observations she dared not share aloud. In a place where everyone performed for everyone else, Emily had learned to watch instead.

The bell tower rang once — a hollow, mournful sound that seemed to echo longer than it should. Emily paused and wondered, not for the first time, whether the academy breathed.

She had three weeks to find out what it was hiding. Three weeks before the winter gala. Three weeks before another student disappeared.
